BENEFICIARIES OF 2009 BOULEVARD BOLT ANNOUNCED

Race for Homeless Set for Thanksgiving Day 2009

Nashville, Tenn. (Oct. 29, 2009) ??? Twenty-three local agencies that serve the homeless in Nashville have been selected to receive funding from this year’s Boulevard Bolt race proceeds, the 2009 Boulevard Bolt Steering Committee announced today.

Since 1994, the five-mile run/walk held on Thanksgiving Day has raised more than $1.2 million to benefit the homeless in Nashville.

“The Boulevard Bolt’s mission is to raise funds for Nashville’s homeless. The 2009 beneficiaries are all agencies that serve the homeless and help meet a critical human need within our community,” said Dru Anderson, 2009 Boulevard Bolt Chairperson.

Last year’s recipient agencies used race funds to support a wide range of programs, from providing homeless youth with backpacks containing street-survival supplies to adding a hot breakfast program at a local soup kitchen.

The 16th annual Boulevard Bolt will start at 8 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 26, at St. George’s Episcopal Church, 4715 Harding Rd.
