WHO WE SERVEOVERVIEW HOMELANDS REFUGEESRefugees come to the United States under a special immigration status. These families are fleeing war-torn homelands where it is no longer safe for them to live. By the time they reach the United States they have often been unsettled for many years -- some having lived in refugee camps with extremely poor conditions. Nashville's primary refugee resettlement agencies, World Relief and Catholic Charities, receive approximately 600 refugees each year. Siloam serves as their first contact with the U.S. health care system by providing an initial health screening and physical. Siloam's quick intervention is crucial to the well-being of many refugees. As the clinic carries out our mission to share the love of Christ by serving those in need through health care, wounds begin to heal, pain subsides, smiles return, and hope grows.
